About The Foster Zoo

My photo
We have decided to blog our adventures again. So much has changed since we last blogged. Bella and Shiloh both went to their forever homes and they are in wonderful families. June Bug got adopted. We quit fostering dogs after those adoptions because Tanker's epilepsy got bad. We quit doing therapy dog work because Tanker's epilepsy got bad. Tanker passed away June 9th, 2013. We adopted a senior border collie named Shania Tankerbelle in his memory. We still have our two cats, Sweet Pea and Little Bit. Wes has started rescuing pitiful bettas from Wal-Mart and we currently have seven. We have a camper. We camp. We have focused on giving our animals the best lives possible. We are The Foster Zoo Crew and we like to have fun.

Clean Puppies

I did not do a whole lot of training today.  I am really tired.  I took the puppies outside to play a lot and they have been full of energy.  They got nice and dirty, so at the end of the day, I gave them baths.

Topher is the sweetest dog I have ever owned.  He truly cares for others.  He is full of love.  He was licking his little puppy sisters dry after their baths.

I am working on teaching the puppies patience.  I am working on teaching them that they have to be invited up onto the couch.  They cannot jump on the couch as they please.  When Blondie was alive she was trained to not get on the couches.  Tanker does not get on the couch.  Topher likes to lay next to me if I am sitting on the couch.  I keep the couches covered to keep them clean.  The puppies like to run and jump and play on the couches.  That's where I am drawing the line.  It's nice to have dogs who know their limits, so that's what we are working on.

Puppies are now sound asleep and laundry is in the works.  I love being a puppy mom.

  1. Limits are nice for sure. :0) I think it's a nice 'thought' to have the sofas dog-free, but I have never had one dog that didn't get up there. I like nothing more than to snuggle up with a child or dog and watch a bit of tv. Still, when the in-laws are over, it would be nice if the dogs 'asked permission' before jumping up to snuggle. :)

  2. I don't mind snuggle, but they were on the backs of the couches and in the blinds today! Crazy, crazy puppies. I must teach them limits. Otherwise, they are great snugglers and I love to snuggle with them. Topher likes to snuggle on the couch. Tanker will not get on the couch. Whoever had him before us must have taught him it was a big no no. He gets all nervous if we pick him up and put him on the couch. Blondie had some dominant issues, so that's why we taught her she wasn't allowed on the couch unless we said so. She thought it was "her" couch and in the last couple years of her life got where she would guard her spot.
